A 1970s sea-facing flat with a plan that had been corrected, extended and corrected again until nothing met at ninety degrees. Three previous designers had proposed straightening it.

We measured the whole apartment and found the deviation was consistent: eleven degrees, everywhere. So the joinery, the ceiling coffers and the stone joints all take the eleven degrees as true north. The building stopped feeling broken and started feeling deliberate.

It photographs strangely and lives very well. Sightlines open toward the water from places you would not expect.
